IDAHO the Exhibition is a free community exhibition to commemorate International Day Against Homophobia at Kudos Gallery, Paddington 18 - 29 May 2010.

IDAHO is held each year on May 17 marking the World Health Organizations removal of homosexuality from its list of mental disorders in 1990. Established in 2004, Louis-Georges Tin founded the IDAHO Committee, an international association aiming at developing this initiative.

IDAHO Sydney is a part of an International movement that has used the day to bring about public and political mobilization for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex and Queer (GLBTIQ) rights.

IDAHO the Exhibition, an inclusive community development campaign was created by IDAHO Sydney to provide an opportunity for all members of the community to articulate in a meaningful way their responses to homophobia and violence and promote a message of acceptance.

Creator of the campaign Nick Baldas -

"One of the main goals of this years exhibition is to promote the message 'Love Combatting Fear'. Every decision a human makes is either based on Love or Fear. We aim to promote a message of Love to combat homophobia and the negative consequences it has".

"Every GLBTIQ person as well as a few of our heterosexual friends would have experienced homophobia to some degree. IDAHO Sydney was created to support these people, provide them with the opportunity to have their voice heard and bring the dark subject of homophobia into the light".

As part of the project, IDAHO Sydney have also set up an online interactive Hate Crime Map for people to mark where they have experienced homophobia. People can read others stories or tell their own at www.idahosydney.org

This year we have a new event called 'Break the Silence' which is a living library setup within the exhibition on May 22. Break the Silence is an opportunity for a transgenerational conversation with memebrs of the GLBTIQ Community with over 1000 invitations sent to secondary schools around NSW.
