Part Video of Rod McRae's Opening Night Exhibition. Heart of The Matter

Rod McRae's sculpture

Sydney-based artist Rod McRae, the finalist in Wynne Prize Competition 2010, explores themes and conditions in global awareness and its implication on advancement in human nature.

Human activity and exploitation to natural resources impact upon our natural climatic and environmental condition that lead to current degradation and destruction to our natural habitat in global perspective.

Rod McRae's body of work consists of tame and wildlife animals to interact with viewers, to express future concern and human's need in environmental sustaintability; to be able to hold back from gradual environmental destruction through "new intervention" in order to "reverse back" our natural environment and natural habitat. The message is fear of nature, life and death...

Rod uses animals and natural habitat to explore deeper anxiety in fear of extinction and its impact upon our society derived from consumerlism, a social and economic behavior that inflicted from human greed and desire that slowly destroyed our natural habitat over time.

McRae's work provides a strong message to the world's environmental destruction through human desires and needs. The heart of the matter in human nature is to maintain and sustain for future generation to survive.

Great exhibition not to be missed.
