This Too Shall Pass

Gallery: Charles Hewitt Gallery

Opening: July 22, 2010

'This Too Shall Pass' exhibition highlights Tamara's personal experiences in abandoned places and exploring remnants of urban decay ' landscapes' in Sydney's city wastelands.

According to Tamara, ' These pictures come from the hem of life. From a city broken down. Subjects un-grown-up. I feel as though I am conjuring something in these photographs. Finding in them the air and light. Waiting for energetic points to come to a head. Weighing the evening. Holding for breath. Pausing for space.' - Source: Charles Hewitt Gallery.

The photo FORSAKEN captures the 'haunting experience' in the excavated site of old St Johns Church and Old Manse building in Paddington waiting to be developed into mixed-use up-market retail and luxury residential buildings. The photo suggests there is a breathing space in a hole subject to rejuvenate into new life. Years of neglect and there is light and hope for future...

In THE KEEPER photo, there is a sense of place and connection to150 years history of the old Kent Street Brewery in the former old Carlton United Brewery site Broadway, Chippendale. The preservation of old chimney signifies hope and prosperity for the long overdue vast wasteland waiting to be transformed into CENTRAL PARK, a $2 billion urban village.

The girl in the foreground posed confidently and feeling with air, wind and movement in believing of new energy and embracing for magical transformation into spectacular place, once a vast abandoned wasteland.
